American International Group has begun the process of selling its remaining stake in AIA Group, a deal that would raise about $6.4bn and mark the US insurer’s exit from the Hong Kong-based company.
美国国际集团(AIG)已启动出售其在友邦保险集团(AIA Group)所持剩余股份的进程,这笔交易将可筹集大约64亿美元,并标志着AIG这家美国保险商“退出”总部位于香港的友邦保险。
AIG is offering its 13.7 per cent stake in AIA at between HK$29.65 and HK$30.65 per share, according to bankers familiar with the transaction, representing a discount of 3.2-6.3 per cent to Friday’s closing price.

AIG has been selling non-core assets as it moves to repay the US government, which bailed out the insurer to the tune of $180bn during the global financial crisis in late 2008.
