Ant Financial’s over-subscribed $10bn fundraising has attracted investors from leading US private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, venture capitalists and hedge funds.
The fundraising values Ant at more than $150bn, according to those involved in the process. The demand to back the financial arm of ecommerce giant Alibaba has meant a valuation that even many of those willing to back the group describe as high — and leading to suggestions that Ant would have no trouble going public as many investors expect next year with a similar value.
Ant executives still need to apportion shares in the fundraising and have not yet determined the final allocations.
