The Egyptian army yesterday issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the country’s political forces, saying that it would have to intervene if they did not resolve the political crisis, in a pivotal moment in Egypt’s troubled two and half year political
transition.
The warning came after vast crowds of Egyptians took to the streets on Sunday demanding the overthrow of Mohamed Morsi, the Islamist president.
Protesters in Tahrir Square erupted in joy on hearing the news.
